| CALLAHAN SIGNS NHL CONTRACT..... |

Congratulations to former Jr. King’s player Mitchell Callahan and his family. Callahan’s story just continues to get better. A kid who played all of his minor hockey in California and his last three plus years as a Jr. King and who was continually passed up by local Select teams; two seasons ago walked on at Kelowna's training camp and literally fought his way onto the roster and now he has signed an NHL contract with the Detroit Red Wings. It's a three year deal. Terms were not disclosed. Mitchell who plays for the Kelowna Rockets in the WHL will attend Red Wings Training Camp for the second time but is expected to return to Kelowna next season.
Callahan is the kind of guy who stirs up trouble all over the ice and isn't afraid to back it up. He'll go toe-to-toe with anybody.
"Daniel Carcillo in Philly is the kind of guy this guy is," Owner Bruce Hamilton said. "He's after you all the time, under everybody's skin, he's yappin' at you and he's doing all the things that bother everybody. He's an agitator." Callahan also can put points on the board offensively almost doubling his rookie point production finishing this season with 20 goals and 47 points while amassing 165 PIM. |
